History:Founded in 1914 as a small repackaging distributorship, Dik Drug endured by selling a limited variety of non-prescription healthcare products to drug stores in the Chicago area. In the 1960’s, the current generation of ownership, Edward and John Dik, assumed control of the company and expanded their operation to diversify product offers, eventually including pharmaceuticals in the 1970’s.

Today, Dik Drug warehouses over 20,000 products over a broad spectrum of categories and has succeeded by specializing in full line service and support to independent pharmacy. On Friday, July 9th, Dik Drug Company hosted a groundbreaking ceremony that will culminate in an addition that will offer a facility of over 100,000 square feet to accommodate their continued growth.

As Dik Drug Company approaches their 100th anniversary (established 1914), the growth and diversification of their business has demanded a need for expanded facilities.

The new addition, expected to be completed in early 2011, will accommodate the growth of the core pharmaceutical business along with substantial growth in the home healthcare business segment. This is the second expansion of the current location, opened in 1980 and expanded in 1996.

In addition, beginning in 2009, the company leased a separate warehouse facility in Woodridge, Illinois, to accommodate the dramatic expansion of its logistics and fulfillment services division. Due to overwhelming customer support, the expansion of this facility is next on the company’s agenda. The expected expansion of this facility is scheduled for March of 2012.

Dik Drug Company’s diversification has allowed for both an expanded customer and geographic sales base. The contributions of all the company’s various business units support the resources necessary to achieve these aggressive expansion plans.
